This exhibition, The Play Show, brings together the KIL graffiti crew to highlight the attitude and method of experimentation for which they have always been known. Unlike most ‘graf shows’ this group has stood out from day one as a group of highly experimental and risk taking artists. By showcasing this crew we are able to see a group that has transitioned into the art world with the same methodology that made them stand out on the streets. These are vandals and degenerates that have turned from the hard life. A group of survivors and experimenters, challengers, and disruptors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These artists have all been members of the notorious KIL crew which originated in San Francisco, CA in the late 90’s. Keep It Lit, Kids In Limbo, Krylon Inspired Letters, Kissing Irish Ladies, Kings In Limousines… This is not a group of civilians, but artists that have earned their respect on the streets. KIL crew has always been a crew known for highly experimental, truly daring \u2013 if not avante garde – graffiti, usually painting styles years ahead of their time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The theme of play provides a connection between all of the artists \u2013 in various stages of their careers \u2013 and emphasizes the attitude the disregards conformity and breaks down the barriers of convention. Sean Barton has created weed ‘roach’ incense as he reconciles his early memories. in an installtion. Jim Ricks will launch his Clap App and show new work featuring a ‘former homie’, Willy Reed constructions self reflexive sculptural paintings that push in all directions, Primo Pitino underscores his role in the SF queer DJ and rave scene, and a number of new works by Chris Lux, Panda Sex, Ira Coyne, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Play Show, re\u00fane al equipo de graffiti de KIL para resaltar la actitud y el m\u00e9todo de experimentaci\u00f3n por el cual se han dado a conocer. A diferencia de la mayor\u00eda de las “exposiciones de graf”, este grupo se ha destacado desde el primer d\u00eda como un grupo de artistas altamente experimentales y arriesgados. Todos estos artistas han sido miembros del notorio grupo KIL que se origin\u00f3 en San Francisco, California, a finales de los 90\u00b4s.
