The Future of the LUAS (unrealised)
Proposal for a LUAS poster and calendar competition with Fergus O'Neill
A text based conceptual approach was taken in response to the brief: imagining the future of the LUAS (the light rail system in Dublin). The text itself reflects what we felt would comprise the ideal illustration for the poster and calendar. The small size of type was used to draw the viewer in, the black background to allow the viewer to visualise the suggested image in their own way.
The Future of the LUAS has been selected to be shown in this show in Boston (we printed it bigger, but left the text the same size):

Drive-By Projects is pleased to present The Event of the Line, an exhibition organized by guest curator Ben Sloat. Artist, educator, and independent curator, Sloat has used his maverick inventiveness and probing intelligence to assemble this lively exhibition in Drive-By's storefront space.
"The Event of the Line explores the line as a dynamic form, one that reaches across cultural platforms, materials, and gestures. In a sense, the line can be considered as a mechanism to cross boundaries and to shift relationships within extant structures of art production. The artists chosen for this show, some from the Boston area, others working nationally or internationally, each propose unique mechanisms for the function of the line, perhaps pointing to the ultimate capacity of the line itself: as a cultural event."
